Planning with a Sovereign God
New Years is a marker on our calendar that reminds us to examine our lives and then improve on what we’ve found.  We reflect on our lives, and ask what we need or want to improve upon, and then we make a goal to change in the new year. This year, let’s set our resolutions before God and accept with a humble heart that He may have other plans for us this year.

Reflections on the Birth of Jesus
Humbled & Exalted
The Gospels of Matthew and Luke both present us with an account of Jesus’ birth. As we reflect on each a striking paradox comes forth: Found in a manger/found in a house, born in obscurity/born into royal intrigue, visited by shepherds/visited by wise men. As we bring these two perspectives together we see that the amazing person of Jesus truly comes together. He is the humble servant who walked in our footsteps, and yet He is the coming King who saves His people and rules all with peace and justice.

Firstfruits

The Feast of Weeks commemorated God’s provision in the harvest of grain, and therefore how it is God who sustains us. This festival points us to Jesus in that on Passover He died as our paschal lamb, and 50 days later during this holiday the Holy Spirit comes and indwells the disciples, beginning the church.
