What is discipleship?

Jesus commanded His disciples to, “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations.” (Matthew 28:19-20) This passage is recognized as the Great Commission, and so we see that making disciples is how we make Jesus known in this world. Discipleship is one of our core tenets at Voyage Church.

We know how difficult and lonely it can be to live out our faith. Forming personal discipleship relationships and meeting frequently in groups can help us to carry one another’s burdens and discover God’s purpose for our lives.

Get connected

We encourage everyone to get connected into a discipleship group of 2-3 people. Through these we seek to help each other as individuals live more fruitfully and faithfully to God. If you’re interested in joining a  group, get in touch with our pastor, ministry leaders, or email us at hello@voyagechurchmtl.com.

The biggest support for the importance of discipleship is that Jesus Himself commanded us to make disciples, and He taught that it was through discipleship that people would come to know Him. Discipleship is also necessary for us because it is how we learn to imitate Christ more in our everyday lives.

One of the great benefits of our discipleship groups is flexibility. The 2-3 person groups do meet at least once every two weeks, but the time and place are set by each group’s availability and benefit.
