Cody John Simpson is the Lead Church Planter and Pastor at Voyage Church.

Background

Pastor Cody’s roots are in Castor, Alberta and Napanee/Sarnia, Ontario. He grew up in a culturally Catholic household but faith was not a part of his life until his early adulthood. In 2007, he moved to Montreal to study History in Concordia University.

In 2010, he met his wife Sonia, who emigrated from Russia to Montréal as a child in the early 90s and grew up attending a Russian-speaking Baptist church in Côte-des-Neiges. They married in the summer of 2011 and attended Beth Ariel church. At that time, God brought Cody to faith in the sacrifice of Jesus.

In 2014, while living for a year in Calgary, Cody experienced an interest in teaching and leading. It was at a Christian retreat in Cochrane, Alberta that building a ministry and church planting had become an avenue he became earnestly passionate to pursue, though the details of how that would play out were yet to be clear. In 2016, he had a clear call to begin a new ministry right where they were — in Côte-des-Neiges.

Present

Today, Pastor Cody and his wife are passionate about extending the Gospel to the unreached people of Montreal and surrounding area, and ministering to them and the congregation through life on life discipleship. They eagerly seek to display, through the testimony of their past and present, the work that God is doing in their lives and that of their fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Their great joy is helping others apply the gospel truth in the day-to-day trials of their church family and those they minister to, pointing them to Christ as the only one who can satisfy.

Cody has a Bachelors in History and a Graduate Diploma in Christian Studies. He and his wife have two children, Isaac and Sally, who have become their junior partners in church planting and ministry.
